The Importance of Stages in a Relationship

When I was a kid I wanted to be older. Now that I'm older I want to be a kid again.
In the world we live in today everyone is in such a rush. People tend to think racing is all about speed, but it's not. It's also about pacing yourself and looking for the best route. If you just go fast, you're going to crash. The same goes for relationships -- people are rushing for that first kiss, for sex, meeting friends, meeting the parents, shopping together, moving in together, getting married, having kids, etc. -- people are going so fast that they greatly increase their chances of crashing. And even if they don't crash, once they reach the finish line they're driving on neutral the rest of the way because they rushed to do everything and they have nothing else to build toward.

I'm not here to tell you when you should be participating in which stages -- that truly depends on your specific relationship. I'm just saying if you slow down and take time on each stage not only will you appreciate each stage more, but your relationship will benefit greatly from it. A lot of relationships end because they rushed through everything. And don't do something because your significant other is pressuring you to do it. If your significant other pulls the "I guess we're just not as close as I thought we were" card (or something similar) that's a huge red flag! That means he or she is not afraid to manipulate you.

Take your time. The most solid foundations are built over time, as are the most solid relationships.

It's 10pm, Do You Know What Fragrance You're Going to Wear?

Scents can be worn at any time of any day. It's ultimately up to you and your choices. However, some scents are more suitable for different times and can enhance your style if you wear them at specific times.

That means you could wear a different fragrance for work than you would for a night out with friends. You could also wear a different fragrance for a night out with friends than you would for a night out with your significant other.

The same goes for the seasons. An aquatic and/or fruity scent would really enhance your style during the summer months. That's not to say you can't wear it in the winter. In fact, wearing an aquatic and/or fruity scent during the winter may be just the right choice for you.

The point of this post is for you to recognize that different scents can enhance your style if used with intent at specific times. Don't simply throw something on, because you like it. Choose the scent that you think would best fit the specific time.

Choose your fragrance wisely and you too can discover the sixth scents.

How Many Fragrances Do You Have?

As a fragrance connoisseur and Style Coach, I often find myself asking people how many fragrances they have. The reason I ask is because people don't tend to consider fragrance a part of their style. The truth is, fragrance is fashion and like you have multiple shirts, pants, skirts, etc. you should have multiple scents as well.

Our sense of smell is our most powerful when it comes to memory. You could actually smell something today that reminds you of something from when you were a baby. You wouldn't wear the same shirt two days in a row, so don't wear the same scent two days in row.

Switch things up to make things exciting. There are rare times in which I would suggest you repeat a scent and that's a reason I share only with my clients -- the rare situation where wearing the same scent again would benefit you.

So go get yourself another scent. Not all cologne and perfume is expensive. Price doesn't always equate quality. Many times it does, but not all the time. So go out there and explore so you too can discover The Sixth Scents.

Jason Nik interview with Talia Russo

Talia Russo is a smart and savvy, multi-talented entrepreneur who understands how to adapt to the obstacles that come her way. Though she's been in many movies and television shows, Talia does far more than act as she is always finding new avenues to achieve success. A sign of a truly successful person -- Talia Russo doesn’t wait for opportunities, she creates opportunities. I had the chance to talk with Talia about her upbringing, motivations, and how she continues to find success as an entrepreneur.
--------
Jason Nik: Tell me about your childhood and how it shaped the dreams that you pursue today.
Talia Russo: My childhood was full of fun and family and moving countries all before I was 7 years old. My mom raised my brother and I alone and we all made the best of difficult situations. Close family members all died within a close time frame for different reasons, but still we all remained positive and lived life. It shaped me in a way that I saw how precious life is and to just do everything now! Don't wait for tomorrow JN: You've been acting for many years now, but what I find most inspiring about you is that you're always exploring new avenues of success. How do you stay motivated? How do you push yourself towards conquering the obstacles in your career and achieving your goals?

TR: Over the years I have pursued many aspects in the film industry. Yes I'm very inspired and motivated, but I'm not stuck in one interest. If I get a small acting role here and there, I'm ok with it, because I'm loving executive producing which I'm doing right now, or hosting and creating TV shows. So big break or not, I'm happy doing everything I'm doing, without leading roles and such.
JN: Based on your experiences, what advice can you give to people who want to get into acting? TR: Advice for actors and anyone who wants to get into the biz would be, network your ass off and research all there is to know about the field you’re in. Education is key and I don't mean formal. JN: What actors and/or actresses would be your dream co-stars? TR: My dream team to work with would be Meryl Streep. She’s hilarious and seems like an amazing giving actor. I also would love to work with Martin Scorsese, just genius! JN: In 2013, you started your own fashion line. Tell me about what inspired you to start Pink Pearl Bikinis? TR: Fashion is a huge part of who I am, I'm very girly and love to dress up and glam up! The bikini line was kind of random, a family friend who had a legging company thought I would be a great spokesmodel to create my own line, so when I went to his factory I saw so many amazing colours and Lycra fabrics that I said I'm just going to design a bikini line! And I just did it! I couldn't find any sexy bikinis for sale in Toronto so I cut all the fabrics and I have a lady who does all the stitching and bam! I created a small business. I made the online store and website and got them into the Thompson Hotel in Toronto

JN: You have big dreams and I applaud your determination -- If you had to do it all over again, is there anything you would do differently? TR: Would I do anything different with my life/career, yes I would have gone to theatre school I think but I was really shy with people I didn't know and I hated all lessons like that. I'm passionate about health also so maybe I should have been a doctor who knows. But I have no regrets. I learn from mistakes and I take my life day by day and achieve all of my goals. JN: Talia, thank you for joining me for this interview. Are there any projects or social media you would like the readers of JNikLC to know about? TR: Thank you for approaching me for this interview! I'm working on executive producing a feature film currently and a TV show. I have been over the last few months approached to be a spokesmodel and marketing strategist for a new tech company that has created an app which will be launched in November. I'm working with an E-cigarette company called Epuffer.com to promote the product. And brokering deals as well for my high net worth business contacts.

Check out my twitter @TaliaRusso for updates! Thank you!

Jason Nik interview with Esther Spina

When it comes to achieving success -- anything a man can achieve, so can a woman. Sometimes, women simply don't realize that they can be ambitious too. Esther Spina aims to change that and is paving the way for women all across the globe to become empowered to achieve their dreams.

I spoke with Esther about overcoming obstacles, being ambitious, and what it takes to be successful.
--------
Jason Nik: When did you discover just how ambitious you truly were?

Esther Spina: I don’t believe people are born “ambitious."  It is a choice. I certainly was not born into an ambitious family. My dad worked at a shoe factory, my mom stayed at home, no one in my family went to college, no one had a business.  I just didn't grow up knowing anything about being an entrepreneur or choosing to live an “ambitious” life. I was destined for an ordinary life. I graduated from high school and got a job a week later as a kardex clerk for General Electric. I just wanted to earn money to get out on my own.  But something happened there.  I wanted a job on the order desk, no woman had.  And I worked at getting that job in a man's world, believing that I could do every bit as good a job as them. I learned I was a very ambitious young lady, and in the four years it took to prove that I could do the job, I learned the traits it takes to be ambitious.

JN: What do you think is the biggest obstacle for women in the business world?
ES: No matter what the industry, it is pretty much male dominated. The biggest obstacle, whether male or female for being successful in any position is to prove yourself to others that you are qualified and capable of the job at hand. However, as a woman, you have to be even more at the top of your game to overcome the male environment. Times are changing and in most cases, if you can prove yourself to be just as capable as your male counterpart, you will rise to the top. I think of Sheryl Sandberg, the COO of Facebook. She is a role model for the modern woman. She is not only the number two person at Facebook, she is also the author of a best-selling book, “Lean In: Women, Work and the Will to Lead.” But women have to learn to “discipline their disappointments.” You cannot be a whiner or cry baby in the business world. How will they keep it together? DISCIPLINE! My mantra is “discipline my disappointments." It’s gotten me everywhere I've been.

JN: You recently released the book “The Ambitious Woman” where you show women how to lead an ambitious life and also profiled many successful ambitious women. Which women’s stories most fascinated you?
ES: Most recently, one of the most ambitious women that has had an impact on me is Diana Nyad, the 64 year old woman who achieved her dream of swimming 110 miles between Havana and Key West in September 2013. In the water for more than two days without a shark tank, she fought fatigue, jelly fish, but was continually encouraged by her support team,  While that is not something I would ever want to do, I am inspired by her dream. It was her fifth attempt, spanned over 2 decades, before she achieved this extraordinary feat. When she emerged from the waters, she said she only had 3 messages, One is we should never, ever give up.  Two is you are never too old to chase your dream. Three is it looks like a solitary sport, but it takes a team. I love that! Never give up on your dreams!

JN: At JNikLC, I tell my readers that anyone can “Dream. Conquer. Achieve. Repeat.” A lot of moms think that because they’re busy being a mom, their dreams are only ever going to be dreams. What can you tell moms about the possibility of achieving those dreams?

ES: I believe a woman can “have it all”.  Maybe just not all at once. There are different seasons in a woman’s life, so you have to learn to be content in whatever season you are in. You do not have to give up on your dreams. If you wait long enough, while at the same time working towards that dream, it will happen. For some women, it starts being single, perhaps going to college, getting married, have children, and then perhaps start a career while kids start school, supporting the husband having dreams and desires of her own. Wherever you're at in that season, keep your dreams alive and never give up. For other women, being a single mom, you may have to do it all at once with the time and resources you have. I think of Mary Crowley, a single mom during the depression who started a business at home and then went on to build one of the largest home interior and decorating companies in the world. Either season, you find yourself in, your dreams CAN be a reality. Never ever give up!

JN: You founded the Ambitious Women Success & Mentoring Club. What can women expect when they join the club?

ES: Everywhere I go, people come up to me and ask, “How did you do it?  What words of wisdom do you have for me.” I’m sure many of them think I have some magical formula that guarantees success. But I have to say, “Be accountable to someone. Have a mentor or get a coach, but be accountable.”  That is what the club is about; staying accountable with exclusive entrepreneurial training, weekly success coaching, hot topics with millionairesses, and adopting successful mindsets that are in alignment with your dreams. Whether this club is right for you or not, “Be accountable”.

JN: Thank you for your time, Esther. Is there anything else you would like to share with the JNikLC readers?

ES: Successful people do what unsuccessful people will not do.  Bottom line.  If you truly want to be successful, it will come with a price and that is doing any and all the things unsuccessful people will not do. That is why not everyone is successful.
Remember that when you have to do something uncomfortable or even scary, to be successful.

5 Startups that Excite Me (& Should Excite You Too)

HONORABLE MENTIONS
*Landmark Business Solutions - A lot of my clients come to me, because their experience with business solution companies have been bad. It seems that most don't really seem to understand business at all. In that sense, Landmark Business Solutions isn't like any of its competition, because not only do they know business, but they recognize that when you succeed, they succeed.
*QuicKbaits - If I was a fisherman, this would have definitely made the top 5. Unfortunately, I haven't had the chance to go fishing yet. When I do, you can guarantee it's going to be with QuicKbaits. They only sell tried and tested bait. Their products have been tested in fishing tournaments and by people with 60+ years of fishing experience. What's even more impressive about QuicKbaits is they hire kids under the age of 18 for their Junior Prostaff. To me this is so important, because it gets kids away from their smartphones and tablets, and has them building real world experiences.
 THE LIST
5. Corner Tailors - You should be excited because at Corner Tailors you can buy a suit that fits you without having to leave home. Anyone can buy a suit online, but you have no idea if that suit will fit you. Corner Tailors has you covered.
4. Apeel Sciences - You should be excited because the scientists at Apeel Sciences have developed a spray that will make the life of fruits and vegetables last twice as long. Not only that, but they can make flowers that have been cut last longer too. No pesticides, these sprays are made of 100% vegetable material.
3. SmartThings - I remember checking out a model smart home at Disney World and thinking how amazing it was. Then I found out every little thing that made that smart home so awesome was extremely expensive and if you wanted to have your own smart home, you had to be a millionaire. You should be excited because SmartThings aims to give you a smart home without having to spend thousands of dollars. And if you are a millionaire, SmartThings introduces a much cheaper alternative to having a smart home.
2. LawTrades - What do all these startups have in common? They all need lawyers to establish themselves. And if they haven't used a lawyer yet, they will. The fact is we all need lawyers at some point in our lives and getting a lawyer is such a hassle. You should be excited because LawTrades changed that. Finding the right lawyer for you has never been so easy. Step 1 - go to LawTrades.com (tell them what you need a lawyer for), Step 2 - the right kinds of lawyers are introduced to you (with free consultation, transparent price quote, client reviews, and contact info), Step 3 - Hire a lawyer. It really is that simple.
1. Magic Leap - I didn't know whether to put this in this article or the app article, but I opted for this one, because Magic Leap appears to be beyond anything the world has ever seen before. Their website is designed like a good movie trailer, you don't really know what's going to happen in the movie, but you can't wait to find out. You should be excited because they seem to be taking augmented reality to a level you would only expect in science fiction. Check out their website and get ready to be amazed!

5 Apps that Excite Me (& Should Excite You Too)

HONORABLE MENTIONS
Humin - Categorize your phone contacts in ways that you think. From where you met them, social networks, books, etc -- everything that typically goes in the note section of your contacts is suddenly much more accessible. They don't alphabetize, though personally I think they should, but I'm definitely interested in seeing what the future has in store for Humin.
Vending MYChine - Know which vending machines are closest to you (currently in the DFW area) and vote on which products you want them to carry. When this young app expands in availability, I will have to rethink the top 5.
THE LIST
5. Spritz - So maybe this is a bit of a cheat, because it's barely even available (though there are a lot of imitators). But it's an app that excites me, so I've placed it here for you all to be excited too. You should be excited because if you're a busy person and you like to read, you may not have time for a long read, but Spritz changes that with its one word at a time speed reading method that could lead to faster reading for everyone.
4. Doctor on DemandYou should be excited because you don't have to leave your house to visit the doctor. You don't have to worry about getting even more sick when you're waiting in a room full of sick people. You can get a doctor wherever internet is available.
3. Mixlr -You should be excited because you can easily create your own podcast straight from your own smartphone. If you have been thinking about starting your own podcast this is the way to do it.
2. Parqer - When an app adds a touch of class to my life, I immediately want to download it. There's something stylish about paying with your phone instead of cash, especially when it comes to valet. You should be excited because with Parqer you never have to fumble with your wallet to pay the valet again. Just use your smartphone.
1. Level Money - A simpler version of Mint. You should be excited because it makes budgeting clearer. There aren't a bunch of different categories to complicate things. There's money earned, money needed to spend on bills, and money left for whatever you want.

To Watch or Not to Watch

With smartphones becoming more and more prevalent we are starting to see people use wristwatches less and less. So the fashion question is, should we have a watch or not?

The answer is pretty simple -- it depends on you. If you like watches -- wear them, if you don't -- then don't. What makes you a truly fashionable person is wearing what's true to you.

If you choose to wear a watch, make sure you wear a watch that matches the rest of your attire. If you can't afford to have more than one watch, don't fret. Just find the watch that will match all your styles.

A metallic silver band is typically a safe bet, but if safe isn't your style then go for a statement. When it comes to picking watches, you must pick the one that represents you the most. Especially, if you are only going to own one watch.

Jason Nik Product Review ft. Jay Grave: Tentsile

Every once in awhile I'll come across a product that really wows me. Something that I just have to share with all of my readers. A couple weeks ago, I discovered an amazing new tent called Tentsile. It is unlike anything you have ever seen before and it's just plain badass. Here at JNikLC, I try to keep all my reviews only products I have personally tried out, but when professional bass fisherman, Jay Grave offered to write a review, I just couldn't turn him down. (Full disclosure: Tentsile is an official sponsor of Jay Grave, but I wouldn't include this review here if I didn't think it was amazing).

Without further ado, allow Jay Grave to tell you about Tentsile:

"I am on the road almost 100 days a year and as an avid outdoorsman, in addition to being a professional bass fisherman, I spend many of those nights in a tent. Several years ago, I thought my tenting days were past. I was sick of sleeping on hard rocks, setting up a tent in the mud, all the time it took setting up my tent and tearing it down early in the morning before a tournament. Then I discovered Tentsile treehouse tents.
Tentsile suspending tents use three points of contact and “tensile” strength to hang a tent up in a tree, or inside a boat slip, or almost anywhere. The model I have is called a Stingray. It has a nylon bottom utilizes three straps to create 3 separated, hammock like sections for sleeping. These all surround a center hatch for climbing in and out. The roof section is completely mesh, so on a clear night it feels as if you can reach out and touch the stars all the way up from the horizon.

Each Stingray comes with a rainfly in a color of your own selection, gone are the days of buying boring old tents that match everyone else’s; now you can pick and choose your own camping color scheme."

I told you it was awesome! Get your Tentsile tent at Tentsile.com and use the promo code GRAVEFISHING for 5% off.

The Sixth Scents

You're moving into the sixth dimension beyond what is lucid to humankind. It is a dimension as limitless as space and as ageless as immortality. It can be found somewhere between night and day, between understanding and intuition, and it is not only of scent, but also of mind. This is an area in which I call The Sixth Scents.

Welcome to my newest column, where I will be discussing and reviewing fragrances. Did you know some cologne or perfume is better suited for night than day? And some is better suited for summer than winter? And some better for business while others can enhance your dating life? I will be discussing all of that right here on JNikLC.

What does The Sixth Scents mean? It of course plays off the movie The Sixth Sense and if you haven't seen the movie yet (shame on you, it came out in 1999!) then *spoiler alert* much like Bruce Willis' character has  a huge revelation at the end of the movie that he was in fact dead, I had my own revelation about fragrances -- my life changed forever when I discovered them. And until you start understanding fragrances, you have no idea the psychological and emotional influences they can have on our lives and the people around us.

Luckily for all of my readers, I have the knowledge and expertise to guide you through this scentsational world. Keep up with JNikLC as I will being making future posts guiding you through The Sixth Scents.

Be Authentic

There are so many so-called "dating coaches" and supposed "self-help books" out there that are stealing money from men teaching them to attract women by playing a character. It's bullshit and if somehow you attract a woman with one of these cheap tactics, you will end up regretting it. The problem is she fell for a character you were playing -- not you. And rather than getting to enjoy your time with this woman, you will have to focus on playing a character. That means lying. Lying again. Remembering your lies. And never getting to relax and be yourself.

I only coach authenticity. This goes for every aspect of life.  If you want to attract beautiful, quality women and truly enjoy a relationship with them, then you must be authentic.

Approach a woman with bullshit -- don't be surprised when your future with her stinks.

If you want to attract beautiful women by being your authentic self, then contact me here.
